Chandlers £50k Challenge launched
2013 is going to be a big year for Chandlers Building Supplies! We’re delighted to announce the launch of our brand new charity challenge, which will see us aiming to raise a huge £50,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The Chandlers £50k Challenge is in honour of Chandlers employee Rob Sadler, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer himself, who will be having a double celebration during the year, marking not only 30 years of Chandlers employment, but more significantly his 50th birthday; those with Cystic Fibrosis are not expected to live beyond their 30s.
Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited diseases caused by a faulty gene meaning that internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive systems, become clogged with thick, sticky mucus, resulting in infections and inflammation that make it hard to breathe and digest food.
Currently, there is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis but treatments are improving all the time. The money that will be raised through the Chandlers appeal will help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust continue to fund medical and scientific research to find effective treatments; ensure appropriate clinical care and provide information, advice and support to anyone affected by the disease.
Over the years Rob Sadler, who is based at our Petworth branch, has raised thousands of pounds for the charity and is thrilled that Chandlers has pledged their support, “The CF Trust is a fantastic charity and I’m delighted that Chandlers is launching this campaign. At the outset, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who shows their support by getting involved and helping us to reach our target.”
Chandlers will be organising a number of fundraising events and would welcome participation from as many people as possible from the local community, including schools, businesses and trades men and women.
Richard Skinner, Commercial Director at Chandlers said, “With the average life expectancy of a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer being just 35 years old we are embarking on this exciting and ambitious challenge in celebration of Rob’s long service to the company and his zest and passion for life. The whole company has fully got behind the campaign and are busy organising events to take place, but we also want the community to be part of this and give their support.”
